Manufacturers of the Year Converge on Grays Harbor

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

graysharborThree past and present winners of the manufacturer of the year award met in Aberdeen, Washington for a trip through the past and discussion of the future.

Ron, Dave & Ken Windell of Grays Harbor Stamp Works, in its 93rd year, invited John Clark and Derek Persons of Stamp-Connection along with Tony Pezze of United Marking to tour their facilities and show them that the same craftsmanship that brought success to past generations of stamp makers is still viable in today’s high tech world.

“Meeting another company that takes pride in their work such as Grays Harbor inspires us to do better.” says John Clark of Stamp-Connection. “And the success that all of our companies have shown during these tough economic times proves that a quality product and exceptional customer service still matters above all else.”

The night started with a tour of the manufacturing process that Grays Harbor uses to turn out high quality rubber stamps and engraved products.

The equipment, some well over 50 years, is still going strong and is used on a daily basis.

“You can’t help but to feel proud working on the same benches and using the same equipment that our father and grandfather used to build the business.” says Ken Windell. “The rubber stamp industry has been good to our family.”

Press Release – For Immediate Release

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN GRESHAM BUSINESS EXCEEDS $1 MILLION IN SALES

Gresham, OR – Stamp-Connection announces that they have passed $1 million in year-to-date sales for 2007. The company had sales of $757,000 in 2006, an increase of 33% with still one month left in the year. In August of 2007, the company had their first $100,000 month, followed with their second and third $100,000 month in October and November. The increase in sales is directly related to Stamp-Connection’s expanded offering of premium pre-inked rubber stamps, including the Xstamper line, which is the most recognized pre-inked stamp worldwide.

“Ever since we started selling Xstamper products back in February, we have seen a sharp increase in all of our rubber stamp categories,” said owner John Clark. “We expected to drive pre-inked rubber stamp business with the Xstamper, but the pull through of iStamp and Ideal stamps have been a terrific surprise.”

The company has established a Pre-Ink Stamp Department to keep up with the growth in business, which will begin order fulfillment of Xstamper orders in the Pacific Northwest from the Shachihata Corporation in January 2008. The company ships to customers in all fifty states and most western countries from its 3,600 square foot shop in Historic Downtown Gresham, and are extremely popular with bill marking enthusiasts on the website WheresGeorge.com. Likewise, the company expects to expand their custom laser-engraving department in 2008, to keep pace with the growing demand for nameplates, awards, and embossers.

About Stamp-Connection:
